Welcome to the SoCal FOOLS website! Our chapter was formed in 2004 with the intent of emcompassing the southern portion of the state much like our brothers have done with the NorCal FOOLS in the northern portion of our state. There were 10 or so of us Southern California firefighters who found ourselves working at the annual Fire House Convention in San Diego alongside several of the founding FOOLS from Florida as well as other FOOLS from New York. After a week of working, training, and old fashion firefighter bonding with our new brothers from New York and Florida we all decided to join the FOOLS as well as start a local chapter. With that said 99% of our activities, work, and training goes on each year in February during the Fire House Convention. We do not collect annual dues but we are very open to donations!
The SoCal FOOLS do not represent any one fire department and we are not a political organization. We will never forget the lost Brothers and Sisters that have given the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. May their ghost never return to ask us, "What have you done to my fire service?" We owe it to ourselves, our fellow firefighters, as well as our families, to be the best firefighters we can be. |
We also agree to the statement that no firefighter should ever say that their training let them down. We are grateful to the Founding FOOLS for giving us this organization and opportunity to share with our brothers and sisters the great pride and joy that it is to be a fireman! No matter how bad things get, no matter how much the MUTTS try to get in your way, this is still the GREATEST job on earth!
FOOLS members willingly take on the commitment to:
- Preserve the rich traditions and heritage of our profession
- Better ourselves with continial training
- Remember those brother and sister firefighters that have gone before us
- Be true to the fire service
Remember that the leather helmet is an international sign of a firefighter, a sign of who we are, not what we are. One does not need a leather helmet to join!
